This new year was full of rewarding things and one of which we are very proud is to continue expanding as a tutoring platform, now not only in areas such as STEM but also in reading, considering that one of the difficulties of a certain percentage of underserved students is the language barrier when they arrive at a place where they feel they cannot advance because they do not understand what they are talking about. To help these children, we hire specialized language and ELA tutors from different parts of the world, whom we train and thanks to the synergy of ideas, we are managing to make our students feel able to read in English and improve their grades.

On the other hand, in this blog we wanted to explain to you why STEM and reading are often seen as two separate subjects, but they are a powerful duo for holistic learning. When STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and reading are combined, students can develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. This blog post will explore the benefits of combining STEM and reading, and provide some tips for incorporating both into your child’s education.

Benefits of Combining STEM and Reading

There are many benefits to combining STEM and reading. Some of the most important benefits include:

  • Improved reading comprehension: When students read about STEM topics, they are challenged to think critically and make connections between the text and their own knowledge. This can help to improve their overall reading comprehension skills.
  • Deeper understanding of STEM concepts: Reading about STEM topics can help students to develop a deeper understanding of complex concepts. When they see these concepts in action, they are more likely to remember them.
  • Development of critical thinking skills: STEM and reading both require students to think critically. When students combine these two subjects, they are forced to analyze information, solve problems, and make decisions.
  • Increased creativity and innovation: Both STEM and reading can spark creativity and innovation. When students are exposed to new ideas and ways of thinking, they are more likely to come up with their own creative solutions to problems.
  • Preparation for future careers: Many of the jobs of the future will require a strong understanding of both STEM and reading. By combining these two subjects now, students can prepare themselves for success in the future workforce.
